The Modification of the Silver Stain Method in Dodium Dodecyl Sulfate-Polyacrylamide Gels for Detecting Lipopolysaccarides

Abstract

|
A sensitive silver stain for detecting bacterial lipopolysaccharides in polyacrylamide gels is devel oped by modifying the silver method of C.M. Tsai and C. E. Frasch(Anal. Biochem., 119: 115-119, 1982(Because of the irreproducibility of the
original
silver staining method for detecting lipopolysaccharides, we have modified a few variations(peridodic acid oxidation and developer). Analyses with the lipopolysaccharides of known structure and variable numbers of repeating units in the O side
chain
have shown that our procedure in more sensitive, reproducible and time-saving than those of original silver stain method.
